Our Story

My name is Tawana. I'm a girl who loves herbs, lives in Emmaus, PA, and believes plants can change your life.

I grew up surrounded by plant medicine. My grandmother knew herbs the way most people know their grocery store — intimately, confidently, and without hesitation. She came from a Jamaican tradition where the earth provided what the body needed, and you learned to listen to both. Those early lessons shaped everything I would come to understand about wellness.

But it wasn't until I was an adult, struggling with my own health, that herbs moved from background knowledge to front and center in my life. I discovered I had a B12 deficiency — and down that rabbit hole came a revelation about how profoundly nutrition and plant medicine affect the way we feel every single day. I started researching. Then experimenting. Then brewing.

The elderflower came first. For years I'd suffered through seasonal allergies — itchy eyes, congestion, the whole miserable package. Within a short time of drinking elderflower tea consistently, it cleared. Not masked. Cleared. That was the moment I knew I wasn't just dabbling in herbs anymore.

Then came burdock root — the herb that became the foundation of this business. Burdock has been used across African, Asian, and Native American herbal traditions for centuries as a deep cleanser for the liver, lymph, and blood. When I experienced what it could do firsthand, I couldn't stop talking about it. Friends asked where they could get it. Family members started requesting it. Orders started coming in before I even had a business.

So I built one.

What Herbs, Oils and Things Is

Herbs, Oils and Things is a small-batch herbal wellness company based in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the Lehigh Valley. Every product is hand-packed with intention. We carry single herbs, wellness blends, and herbal accessories — all rooted in the same principle: plants are powerful, and people deserve access to them.

We are not a supplement factory. We are not a mass producer. We are a small operation run by someone who uses every product we sell, who has researched every herb we carry, and who genuinely believes that what we offer can change the way people feel.

We don't buy in bulk to sit on inventory. Every batch is small because freshness matters.
