Purple Irish Moss
Product details
Description
Purple Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus) | Dietary Supplement, Whole Dried Seaweed
Gathered from Ireland's rocky Atlantic shores, where it is known as carrageen, Irish moss sustained families during the Great Famine of the 1840s and was simmered into milk puddings and traditional remedies for coughs. The tradition crossed to the Caribbean, where sea moss drinks are still a beloved tonic. This red seaweed is rich in soothing carrageenan and naturally occurring iodine and minerals. Human research on whole Irish moss is limited; most studies are preclinical.*

HOW TO MAKE SEA MOSS GEL

Tip: In Ireland, carrageen was simmered in milk with a little sugar to set a soft pudding called blancmange.
